CLIMATE JUSTICE FOR ALL

Power to the Planet, Power to the People

New York City stands at a crossroads—our climate future depends on the choices we make today. As a candidate running for City Council, I’m proud to present a transformative platform that centers environmental justice, public health, and sustainability called CLIMATE JUSTICE FOR ALL. This is a bold environmental reset built from the ground up, neighborhood by neighborhood.

We will restore and expand community composting programs citywide, empowering New Yorkers to recycle food waste locally while supporting green jobs and grassroots environmental stewardship. We will blanket the city with publicly available electric vehicle charging stations to accelerate the clean transportation revolution, ensuring no neighborhood is left behind. Inside City Hall, we’ll lead by example—cutting waste in government contracts and buildings, eliminating single-use plastics, and upgrading public infrastructure for energy efficiency.

Our plan makes recycling and composting as easy as throwing out trash, with street-level access across all five boroughs. We’ll slash emissions by powering city-owned buildings with clean, renewable energy, from rooftop solar to battery storage. And we’ll protect our most vulnerable residents by enforcing safe housing standards to eliminate toxic mold, lead, and indoor air hazards. Finally, we’ll reclaim polluted city-controlled land, clean up contaminated sites, and turn them into parks, housing, and green infrastructure.

This is how we build a cleaner, healthier, and more just New York City. One that works not just for the planet—but for the people.

Supercharge Community Composting Across All Five Boroughs
New York City must lead with innovation and integrity when it comes to food waste. We will invest in and fully restore the vibrant network of community composting hubs that have long powered neighborhood sustainability—from school gardens to local farmers markets. Unlike industrial composting, which often removes organic material from our communities entirely, community composting keeps nutrients local, builds green jobs, and reconnects New Yorkers to the natural cycle. This is about environmental justice, waste equity, and community empowerment. We’ll protect and scale these programs citywide—not just as an afterthought, but as essential infrastructure for a greener future.

Accelerate the EV Revolution with Public Charging Access on Every Block
To move away from dirty fossil fuels, New Yorkers need convenient, street-level access to electric vehicle charging. We'll deploy a citywide network of publicly available EV charging stations in every neighborhood—equitable, accessible, and powered by clean energy. No one should be left behind in the shift to zero-emission transit. We'll partner with clean tech providers, ensure affordable usage, and fast-track infrastructure to match the pace of our climate ambition. This is about making the sustainable choice the easy choice for all.

Lead by Example: Cut Waste in City Buildings and Contracts
The City of New York is one of the largest consumers of goods and services in the world—and it's time we hold ourselves to the highest standards. We'll introduce bold waste reduction mandates in all government contracts and public buildings, phasing out single-use plastics, streamlining supply chains, and mandating compost and recycling infrastructure. The city’s purchasing power must reflect its values. A greener government starts with smart, ethical procurement that drives systemic change—and makes sustainability the norm, not the exception.

Make Recycling and Composting as Easy as Throwing Out Trash
We throw away too much of what should be reused, recycled, or composted—and it ends up clogging landfills and polluting our air. We'll install publicly accessible recycling and compost bins on every block, especially in high-traffic and underserved areas. This isn’t just about infrastructure—it’s about culture. New Yorkers want to do the right thing, but the city has made it too hard. With real investment, clear signage, and smart bin technology, we’ll make sure every can, carton, and scrap goes to its proper place—not a landfill.

Slash Energy Waste and Power NYC with Clean, Local Energy
Our buildings are the biggest source of greenhouse gas emissions—and we must dramatically reduce energy consumption across all city-controlled properties. We’ll retrofit schools, libraries, and housing with state-of-the-art energy-saving systems, and rapidly expand solar, geothermal, and battery storage on public rooftops and lots. New York must lead the clean energy transition from the ground up, with public-sector boldness that inspires private-sector action. This is how we cut pollution, lower bills, and create thousands of green jobs—at once.

Make Every Home a Safe, Healthy Place to Live
Environmental justice starts at home. Too many families—especially in public housing—live with toxic mold, lead, and unsafe air, creating daily health hazards. We’ll fund and enforce rigorous inspections and real consequences for bad landlords, and invest in permanent remediation. Clean indoor air isn’t a luxury—it’s a right. Safe housing is climate policy, public health policy, and racial justice policy all in one. We won’t wait for another crisis. We’ll deliver proactive enforcement, accountability, and real solutions.

Detox the Land: Clean Up and Restore Contaminated City Sites
Our city owns thousands of parcels of land, some of which are contaminated and neglected—especially in marginalized neighborhoods. It’s time to take bold action and clean up these toxic sites for public use, green infrastructure, and affordable housing. We'll map, prioritize, and fully remediate city-controlled brownfields and environmental hazards, turning environmental liabilities into community assets. This isn’t just about soil—it’s about justice, health, and reclaiming space for the public good. No community should be left to live in the shadow of pollution.
